A Typical Walk and Talk Programme

All of the productive work in the Walk and Talk programme takes place on the walks, of which there are four, each typically three hours long. These are taken at a gentle pace (to save breath for talking comfortably).

We arrive at Losehill Hall for lunch on Day 1, initial briefing and 'get to know you' session, followed by a walk to clear our heads and really get to know each other a bit better by answering a few basic questions to each other as we go along - why am I here? what attracted me to it? what would success look like? This will also help us to get our issues clear in our heads. (I am expecting that people will focus on their work or career)
Return to Castleton (Losehill Hall) for wash and brush up, dinner, and then an evening session to talk about the 'listening' process, and how the next day will be structured, followed by some time relaxing, maybe playing a few games
Day 2 will start with breakfast, and then a long (but not onerous) walk in four sections, two before lunch (pub fare) and two after. In two of the sessions each person will be 'listening' to one other person, drawing out their issue(s) by asking questions, seeking to build a full picture, reflecting back etc. (based on the process explained the night before) and in the other two sessions the person will be being listened to as they think through their problem, drawing new insights from it, and then providing their 'listener' some feedback on how helpful their application of the process was. In this way, our intention is that people will both progress a real problem (or two) and develop their 'listening' process for helping others to do the same. People will be paired with four different people, always someone they don't know.
That evening will be about pulling what we have learnt together. We have a dinner arranged at a local restaurant.
On Day 3, for those who wish to, there will be a final walk, either for pleasure, or individual reflection, or for taking the issues to a conclusion, followed by lunch and a fond farewell.
More detail on the process is provided in Walk and Talk Process.
