About the Peinao Trust
is the Greek word for hunger)
From 2003 to 2006, the Peinao Trust sought to financially
support and encourage other charities in their work to alleviate
the causes and effects of physical, emotional or spiritual hardship
throughout the world.
The trust recognised that physical and emotional
hardships often arose, or are sustained, as a result of spiritual
deficiencies elsewhere (such as greed, hate or selfishness) and
therefore placed special emphasis on those charities which seek
to equip and inspire their beneficiaries to go on to help others,
or who attempt to address the systemic causes of hardship.
100% of all monies received by the Peinao
Trust were passed on to charities that met the above criteria,
and which could demonstrate that the money they received from Peinao
was used directly and productively to benefit those in need.
However, a visit to Uganda in 2006 created a marked shift in our perspectives, particularly in respect of small business as a sustainable solution to poverty - encapsulated in the phrase 'a hand-up, not a hand-out'. This led to the development of the Reconxile project and the channelling of our time, resources and finances toward that aim.
You can read about Reconxile, and its results by visiting www.reconxile.org
For purposes of accountability, the financial affairs of the Peinao Trust
to date have been posted (see links to the right). However, we no longer feel that this vehicle is sufficiently publicly transparent to act as a repository for funds from other sources, and so we therefore ask that any organisation making a donation in respect of fulfilling the terms of copyright use of Tesseract materials for direct commercial gain do so through Hand in Hand. (Charity Number 1069976).
